The future generation of the S-Klasse is scheduled to arrive in late 2012. While a plug-in hybrid version has already been green-lighted for serial production, an all-electric variant of the luxury limousine is now taken into consideration. Thomas Weber, chief of the Research and Development at Mercedes-Benz, has lately stated that his team of experts is currently looking at the potential customer demand for such a version. It will be no surprise if the Stuttgart-based carmaker builds this model, as they planned a tough offensive in the field of alternative powering solutions for automobiles: the fleets of smart fortwo ed now being operated in the world, the A-Klasse E-CELL, the B-Klasse F-CELL and the nonconventional SLS AMG E-CELL supercar that's programmed for launch in 2013. Moreover, Daimler AG has recently secured a partnership with Bosch aiming to develop ingenious electric technologies and motors. So, the anticipated pure electric S-Klasse is suddenly becoming more than just an unconfirmed possiblity, very likely to debut in the forthcoming years.
