The Shanghai F1 track was the stage of a qualifying round with lots of ingenious strategies for achieving the best position on the grid to start from in the race. Nico Rosberg showed a consistent performance and after Q3, the German driver grabbed the fourth place. His teammate, Michael Schumacher, struggled with a malfunctioning rear wing that prevented him from entering the Top 10. Thus, the former world champion had to settle for an undesirable 14th position at the end of Q2.
